Minnesota teams place at Schoolboy National Duals

Minnesota wrestlers competed at the USA Wrestling Schoolboy/girl National Duals held in Indianapolis, Ind. on June 8th-11th. Teams competed in dual meets in the two Olympic styles of wrestling, freestyle and Greco-Roman. Minnesota had two teams competing in each style (Minnesota Red and Minnesota Blue). Schoolboy/girl athletes are 13-14 years old.

In Greco-Roman competition, Minnesota Blue placed fourth behind Pennsylvania (1st), Wisconsin (2nd), and New Jersey (3rd). Rounding out the top eight were Indiana (5th), Michigan (6th), Missouri (7th), and Washington (8th).

Members of the Minnesota Blue fourth place Greco-Roman team included: Jordan Kingsley (70 lbs.), Eric Baurer (75 lbs.), Hayden Zillmer (80 lbs.), Matt Kelliher (85 lbs.), Ben Morgan (90 lbs.), Dylan Ness (95 lbs.), Beau Buysse (100 lbs.), Brad Hofstrand (105 lbs.), William Baker (110 lbs.), John Oman (115 lbs.), Zak Coates (120 lbs.), Ben Cox (125 lbs.), Max Poikonen (130 lbs.), Scott Gifford (145 lbs.), Tyler Lewandowski (165 lbs.), Gordon Hill (185 lbs.), Don Longendyke (205 lbs.), Zane Peterson (225 lbs.), and Jim Perterson (250 lbs.).

In freestyle competition, Minnesota Blue placed fifth behind Oklahoma (1st), Pennsylvania (2nd), and Wisconsin (3rd), and New Jersey (4th). Rounding out the top eight were Washington (6th), Missouri (7th), and New York (8th).
