Minnesota team places third at
Cadet National Duals

Minnesota wrestlers competed at the USA Wrestling Cadet
National Duals held in Kansas City, MO on June 23-26. Teams
competed in dual meets in the two Olympic styles of wrestling,
freestyle and Greco-Roman. Minnesota had two teams competing in each
style (Minnesota 1 and Minnesota 2). Cadet athletes are 15-16 years old.
In freestyle competition, Minnesota 1 placed third behind Pennsylvania
(1st), and Missouri (2nd). Rounding out the top eight were Iowa (4th),
New Jersey (5th), Oklahoma (6th), Washington (7th), and Michigan (8th).
Members of the Minnesota third place freestyle team included: Kyle
Ballard (84), Devin Scott (91), Wade Adams (98), Dalton Sower (105),
Luke Vaith (112), Patrick LeVasseur (119), Trey Bertram (125), Pat
Smith (130), Josh Wiseman (135), Tory Valek (140), Kevin Steinhaus
(145), Brenden Eichman (152), Tanner Sittig (160), Matt Spaden (171),
Caleb Lines (189), Jason Engstrom (215), and Jake McPherson (275).
In Greco-Roman competition, neither Minnesota team placed.
