One of the highest honors in the Kids Division is the State Triple Crown Award. To achieve this feat a wrestler must win the State Folkstyle, Greco-Roman and Freestyle Tournaments. Last season thirteen wrestlers reached the status of Triple Crown winners. Of last year's winners, only four were able to repeat this season: Ben Brown, Zach Sanders, John Sundgren, and Jon Dahl. Seventeen wrestlers were first time winners. They were Thomas Powers, David Thron, Kyle Donlan, Cody Buscho, Tom Ford, Eric Reinert, Sam Marsch, Jayson Ness, Tim Matheson, Cole Swenson, Kevin Landry, Ryan Adams, Jon Koranda, Ken Saufl, Kyle Massey, Mike Maresh and Nathan Matousek. All these wrestlers will be honored at the Minnesota/USA Wrestling Awards Banquet, Sunday, August 22 at the Fort Snelling Club, Bldg. #89. |
