Minnesota to face #12 Northern Iowa at National Duals
The top-ranked and top-seeded University of Minnesota wrestling team will face 12th-ranked and unseeded Northern Iowa in the first round of the 2002 Cliff Keen/NWCA National Dual Meet Championships, set for Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 19-20, at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
The Golden Gophers and Panthers wrestle at 9 a.m. in St. John Arena. UNI enters the meet with a 5-3 record and features five wrestlers ranked in the top 20 in their respective weight class. A win over the Panthers would set up a quarterfinal match-up between No. 8 Pennsylvania or unranked Fresno State. The remainder of Minnesota's side of the bracket contains No. 4 Michigan, No. 5 Iowa, Central Michigan and Edinboro.
No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 6 Iowa State and No. 7 Ohio State round out the seeded teams. The first round pairings are below.
