Soupir Named NSIC Wrestler of the Week

Marshall, MN: Southwest State sophomore Josh Soupir was named as this weekIs Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week.

A 133-pound native of Marshall, Soupir defeated two nationally-ranked wrestlers last week to help Southwest State gain a split in a pair of non-conference matches. Soupir defeated Pete Isham of Dana College 12-2 in a 16-24 Mustang loss and posted a 6-4 decision over Justin Portenier of Dakota Wesleyan University in a 40-6 SSU victory.

Soupir has posted a record of 10-8 so far this season and has helped SSU to a 4-9 dual record in the 2001-02 season. The Mustangs will compete in four duals this weekend in the Central Missouri State duals in Warrensburg, MO.

Southwest State is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northen Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
