NCAA Division II Wrestling Rankings

Wednesday, Jan. 23

EDMOND, Okla. -- Central Oklahoma took over as the new No. 1 team in the NCAA Division II dual wrestling poll, according to the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches' Association team and individual rankings that were released on Wednesday.

The Bronchos switched places with North Dakota State, which had been the top-ranked team in the first four polls this season, after defeating the Bison 26-15 in the finals of the NWCA Division II National Duals last weekend in Columbus, Ohio. UCO received all eight first-place votes in the balloting of Division II coaches from around the country to finish with 160 points.

NDSU was second with 151 points, while Nebraska-Omaha was third, Ashland (Ohio) fourth and Minnesota State-Mankato fifth. Rounding out the top 10 is Augustana (S.D.), Findlay (Ohio), Pittsburgh-Johnstown (Pa.), Nebraska-Kearney and Central Missouri State.

Augustana and Findlay made the biggest jumps in the rankings. The Vikings moved from 14th to sixth after finishing fifth in last week's national dual tournament, while Findlay jumped from 13th to seventh after a sixth-place finish in that 16-team event.

The 2002 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships will be March 8-9 in Kenosha, Wis.
