St. Cloud State Wrestlers Moves Up in Polls
St. Cloud, Minn. -- St. Cloud State University junior wrestler Dustin Darveaux, a graduate of Pipestone H.S., has moved up to fifth place in the latest NCAA Division II national poll in the heavyweight division. Darveaux was joined in the national polls by teammate Jon Duncombe, a resident of St. Michael, who gained an eighth place ranking in the national polls at 174-pounds.
This marked the first time this winter that Duncombe has been ranked nationally, while Darveaux makes a move up from seventh on the polls. Darveaux currently owns a 24-5 record this season, which includes a 3-0 record at the recent NCAA Division II Duals, which were held on Jan. 19-20 in Columbus, Ohio. At the Division II Duals, Darveaux gained a 4-1 win over #6 Willie McGowan of Central Missouri State on Jan. 19.
Duncombe has enjoyed a strong freshman season at SCSU, and currently owns a 14-9 overall record at 174-pounds. He was a redshirt athlete at SCSU in 2000-01, and wrestled during his prep career at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
