Big Ten Championships pre-seeds

Three University of Minnesota wrestlers have earned No. 1 pre-tournament seedings for the 2002 Big Ten Championships, held this weekend at Assembly Hall on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill. Leroy Vega (125 pounds), Ryan Lewis (133) and Luke Becker (157) lead the list of Golden Gophers with their top seeds. All 10 Maroon and Gold grapplers are listed in the pre-tournament seedings.

The final seeds and brackets will be determined Friday, March 8, in a coaches meeting in Champaign. Competition at the conference tournament begins Saturday, March 9 at noon and concludes Sunday, March 10 at 3 p.m. The top-ranked Golden Gophers look to repeat as Big Ten champions and qualify all ten wrestlers to the NCAA Championships, held March 21-23 in Albany, N.Y.
