NCAA Division II Wrestling Rankings

Wednesday, Jan. 8

EDMOND, Okla. -- Defending NCAA Division II national champion Central Oklahoma maintained its position atop the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches' Association rankings that were released Wednesday.

The Bronchos, who captured their 13th national title last March, received all eight first-place votes in balloting of coaches from around the country and had 160 points to claim the No. 1 rating.

Nebraska-Omaha stayed second in the poll with 152 points, while North Dakota State is third with 144 points, Nebraska-Kearney fourth with 135 points and Ashland (Ohio) fifth with 124.

Rounding out the top 10 is Adams State (Colo.), South Dakota State, San Francisco State, Indianapolis (Ind.) and Minnesota State-Mankato.

UCO has four individuals ranked No. 1 -- returning champions Cole Province (133), Matt Dodgen (141) and Shawn Silvis (165) and 2000 champion Mark Dodgen (125).

Fourteen of the top-20 teams, including the top eight, will compete in the NWCA Division II National Duals that will be held next week (Jan. 18-19) in Columbus, Ohio

The 2003 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships are set for March 14-15 in Wheeling, W. Va.
