Augustana Update
January 14, 2003
Greetings,
This past week, the Vikings suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Augsburg -- 24-15. It was a good match, and a great crowd, but we left feeling as though we let one slip away. The Vikings did finish the week with victories over Northern State (24-9) and Southwest State (42-6). The guys have returned from the holiday break in good condition, and other than battling cold and flu season, it appears we should be in fine shape for the remainder of the season.
Next weekend is a big test for our squad. We travel to Columbus, OH for the National Dual Meet Championships. As many of you know, we finished fifth last season, and we are hoping to improve on that finish. We are not seeded in the 16 team field, but we are confident. The brackets have just been released, and we face the fifth seeded team first round (Ashland University of Ohio). Central Missouri State and Nebraska-Kearney (#4) are also in our quarter bracket. Action starts at 9:00 AM on Saturday, and it continues throughout the weekend. The Division I and Division III duals are also held at the same venue on the campus of Ohio State Univ. It should be a great wrestling weekend!
