The SJU wrestling team hosted the annual North Country Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 8, and finished ninth out of the 15 teams. Over 160 wrestlers competed at the tournament. Augsburg won the tournament, with Wartburg finishing second. Jason Moore from St. Olaf at 165 pounds won the Outstanding Wrestler Award at the tournament.
Individually, SJU had two wrestlers place in the top six. Senior Chuck Griffith, Morris, finished fifth at 133 pounds and junior Ryan Weinandt, Wabasha, finished third at heavyweight.
SJU is now 9-9 in dual meets this season. The Johnnies will travel to the St. Olaf Open in Northfield on Saturday, Feb. 15, beginning at 10 a.m.
