Janousek signs with Mavericks

Mankato, Minn. --- Head coach Jim Makovsky has announced that Josh Janousek has signed a NCAA Letter of Intent to attend Minnesota State-Mankato this fall.

Janousek comes to MSU via Ridgewater Community College (Willmar, Minn.) were he captured a National Junior College Athletic Association national championship in 2003. He finished four at nationals his freshman year and built a 64-14 career record in his two seasons at Ridgewater. The Greenbush, Minn., native was a two-time Region XIII champion and Minnesota Conference of Community Colleges champion. As a member of Greenbush High School head earned a fifth-place finish at the state tournament in 1998 and was second in 1999.

"We are extremely happy that Josh is going to be a Maverick," said Makovsky. "He is a very powerful, explosive wrestler and he has the ability to be a NCAA II National Champion immediately. We will also look to Josh to provide leadership to our team."

Minnesota State completed the 2002-03 season with a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Division II tournament. The Mavericks were fifth at the North Central Conference meet and owned an overall record of 7-4.
