Edmond, OK &endash; UM-Morris junior captain, Dante Lewis was recognized in the Pre-Season All-American poll released on October 28th by the NCAA II Wrestling Coaches Association. Lewis was ranked 7th at 125 pounds behind six returning All-Americans.
Dante Lewis has accomplished a few feats in his first two seasons at UM-Morris. The Omaha, Nebraska native is a two-time NCAA II National qualifier. Last season Lewis posted a 1-2 record at the national championships, defeating the third place finisher and dropping a tight match to the two-time national champion from Pitt-Johnstown. Lewis is also a two-time NSIC champion at 125 pounds, he will be looking for his third straight title this season, hoping to tie the school record held by both former NCAA All-American's Tom Beyer and Jeff Merritt.
"I have seen Dante as a gifted individual for quite some time," said UMM head coach Doug Reese. "I am glad that he is finally getting the national recognition that he deserves. Although he is talented, he works extremely hard to get where he is at," commented Reese.
Lewis is a three-time Nebraska state high school champion and a USA Wrestling Junior National All-American in Greco-Roman wrestling. Lewis is majoring Sports Management
