Augustana Update

The Augie wrestlers had a decent showing at the Holiday Inn Open last Saturday in Mitchell, SD. The event was not on the schedule, but the majority of the team entered the tourney unattached. Here are the Augie results:

125 Aaron Graumann 1st (4-0)

125 Chris Trampe 6th (3-1) Injury default after semi's

133 Andre VanderVelde 2nd (4-1)

133 Mike Gibson (1-2)

141 Ryan King 3rd (5-1)

149 Austin Scarset 3rd (7-1)

157 Ben Caven-Johnson (1-2)

165 Dustin Wilking 1st (4-0)

174 Tom Meester 1st (4-0)

184 Sam Kenton 1st (4-0)

197 Tyler Bullerman 3rd (5-1)

285 Cris Bietz 3rd (4-1) four falls

Dusty Wilking defeated the #2 ranked NCAA III wrestler in the quarter finals, and Sam Kenton defeated wrestlers ranked #5 and #7 on his championship run. The University of Nebraska Kearney and Minnesota State at Mankato were the toughest opponents for the Vikings in Mitchell.

Next weekend, Nov. 23, the Vikings have a big test at the UNO Open. We are excited about the rapid progression of our freshman. Hopefully, you can catch them in action sometime this season. They are an aggressive group of wrestlers.
