Lynaugh signs with Mankato

Mankato, Minn. -- Minnesota State wrestling head coach Jim Makovsky has announced that George Lynaugh (Inver Grove, Minn.) has signed a NCAA National Letter Of Intent to join the Maverick wrestling program starting in the 2003-04 school year. "We are very excited that George chose MSU to continue his academic and wrestling goals. He is a very talented, hard working individual. He comes from an excellent high school program and has a ton of freestyle experience," said Makovsky.

Lynaugh will come to MSU after a stellar career at Simley High School where he has posted a record of 141-47 entering his senior year. During the 2001-02 season, Lynaugh picked up 42 wins and was the Minnesota state champion in the 160 pound weight class. He also finished sixth-place finish at state during his 2000-01 season. Lynaugh is currently ranked among the top 100 recruits in the nation according to wrestling website intermatwrestle.com. "I think he is going to be an excellent college wrestler and we will look for him to have a huge impact on our wrestling team," added Makovsky.
