Mavericks Blank the Mustangs 43-0

Marshall, Minn. -- The Minnesota State wrestling team traveled to Marshall, Minn. tonight to take on the Mustangs in a non-conference dual. The Mavericks earned their second dual victory of the season as the rolled over SSU by a score of 43-0, bringing their dual record to 2-1 (1-0, NCC) on the season, with the Mustangs falling to 1-3.

Senior #2 Tony Fratzke (Hutchinson, Minn.) collected a fall against Keefer Jensen at 3:27 in the 133 pound weight class. Freshman Jason Rhoten (Mantorville, Minn.) picked up his second victory of his MSU career with a fall against Josh Soupir in the 141 pound class. #7 ranked Hannon Hisek picked up the third Maverick fall of the night as he pinned Alden Struchen at 2:17. Decisions by #3 senior Cory Beckman (New Hampton, Iowa) over Mustang All-American Jared Cooley, junior Jon Dierks (Waldorf, Minn.) and senior Joel Schrimpf (Goodhue, Minn.) helped pace the Mavericks throughout the dual. Senior #6 Jake Emerick (Pella, Iowa) notched a technical fall at 3:37 over Jeremy Boogerd.

The Mavericks will travel to Kirksville, Mis., Jan. 17th to face Truman State in a dual meet.
