No. 14 Northern Iowa rolls past North Dakota State

CEDAR FALLS, IA - Northern Iowa got four wins by major decision and one by fall while rolling to a 31-6 win Thursday over North Dakota State in non-conference wrestling before a crowd of 628 at West Gym.
Bison 125-pounder MATT STRAWSER got a win for North Dakota State in the night's third bout to cut the Panthers' lead to 6-3, but UNI (8-5) tacked on a pair of major decisions and another decision before PAUL CARLSON won at 157 for the Bison (7-3). Strawser and Carlson both won by 8-4 counts.
Northern Iowa, the 14th-ranked team in NCAA Division I, got a Drew Kelly major decision at 165, a Hesston Johnson pin at 174, and a Jordan Holm major decision to clinch the win.
North Dakota State, ranked seventh in the latest Division II poll, returns to North Central Conference action on Saturday night at No. 3-ranked Nebraska-Omaha.
