SIOUX FALLS, SD--North Dakota State junior heavyweight Joe Bryce was named co-Wrestler of the Week by the North Central Conference office today.
Bryce, the No. 3-ranked wrestler in Division II at heavyweight, won two key matches to help the Bison (10-0, 3-0 NCC) to a pair of victories in the last week.
Bryce put NDSU up 18-9 with one bout to go in the 18-13 win at Augsburg on Jan. 27, using a takedown and near fall in the first round of overtime against Augsburgs Mark Simmonds for a 5-1 decision.
He pinned Augustana's Ray O'Connor in 2 minutes, 2 seconds last Sunday to give the Herd a 20-8 lead after the Vikings had pulled within 10-9 two bouts earlier. The Bison won by a final of 24-15.
Nebraska-Omaha's J.D. Naig, the fourth-ranked wrestler in Division II at 165 pounds, was the other honoree. He had an 8-5 and 10-1 wins last week against South Dakota State and Central Missouri State.
Bryce and the Bison travel to SDSU on Saturday night for a 7 p.m. NCC dual meet with the Jackrabbits (3-7, 1-2 NCC).
