The SJU wrestling team traveled to Indianola, Iowa on Saturday, Jan. 10, for the Simpson Invitational and finished eighth out of nine teams. SJU had 66.5 team points and Simpson won the team title with 148 team points.
Individually, sophomore Dan Willaert, North Mankato, finished third at 184 pounds. Sophomore Dan Fiecke, Winsted, finished fourth at 197 pounds and sophomore Nate Schraan, Eagan, finished fifth at 125 pounds.
Three SJU wrestlers finished in sixth place - freshman Jacob Ziegler, Darwin, at 133 pounds; sophomore David Sadder, Shoreview, at 149 pounds and senior Ryan Weinandt, Wabasha, at heavyweight.

SJU is 3-2 in dual matches this season. SJU will travel to Minn.-Morris for a dual meet at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14 and then host the annual Terry Haws Dual Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 17, beginning at 10 a.m. at Sexton Arena on the SJU campus. Eight teams will be competing at this year's Terry Haws Tournament.
