Meester to be featured on CBS TV special
April 15, 2004
SIOUX FALLS - Augustana College wrestler Tom Meester will be featured in a CBS Sports Special "Championships of the NCCA: NCAA Winter Highlight Show" on Sunday, April 18 at noon (CDT). The show can be seen on KELO TV in Sioux Falls.
Meester won the 184-pound national championship in March at the NCAA Division II National Wrestling Championships in Mankato, Minn. Ranked No. 1 the entire season, Meester went 30-2 and did not lose a match to a Division II opponent. He has not lost to a Division II opponent since his freshman season and has a three-year career record of 100-18.
By winning the national title, the junior from Rock Rapids, Iowa, erased the painful memory of not competing in the 2003 national championships. Despite being the top-ranked wrestler at 174 pounds, Meester became ill at the North Central Conference Championships and could not compete. The conference meet served as the qualifying tournament for the national meet.
