Minnesota West signs three from Iowa
May 5, 2004
Coach Bob Purcell at Minnesota West CTC received committiments from three Iowa wrestlers. Derrick Pomranky of Sloan, and Ryan and Nate Hawn of Spirit Lake have decided to take their wrestling skills to Minnesota West.
Pomranky won over a 100 matches in high school and will compete at 157 or 165 pounds. Ryan and Nate Hawn are twins that will bring over 100 career wins to the Bluejay wrestling program. Nate will wrestle at 157 pounds or could drop to 149 pounds and Ryan will wrestle at 174 pounds or 184 pounds for the 2004-2005 wrestling season. Ryan placed second at 171 pounds in the 2A State Tournament in Iowa.
"Having a couple of twins battling in the wrestling room is always exciting for a wrestling team," said Purcell. "Derrick, Nate, and Ryan could step right into the starting lineup and compete. They are all good students and were the hardest workers in their high school wrestling rooms."
