Coach Spiess announces Dragon recruiting class

Kelly Janke, a two-time Minnesota State Champion from Frazee High School and North Dakota State Champion Rockie Stavn of Bismarck Century High School headline the latest wrestling recruiting class of Minnesota State University Moorhead head coach Keenan Spiess.
Janke posted a career record of 129-32 for the Hornets and claimed two Minnesota State Class A 135-pound titles. In addition to his 160-pound state title, Stavn also finished third and sixth during his prep career.
Spiess' freshmen recruiting harvest also includes Jeff Bailey (Fairbanks, AK), 130, Blake Bristlin (Frazee), 130, Zach Cahill (Rolla, ND), 189, Casey Dschaak (Beulah, ND), 112, Andrew Gaughan (Moorhead), 145, Logan Lunde (West Fargo, ND), 140, Troy McFarland (Grand Forks, ND), 119, Matt Nelson (Burnsville), 189, Austin Rife (Sebeka), 119, Marv Staus (Grand Forks, ND), 119, Corey Swenson (Pine River), 135, and Tyler Tubbs (Chokio), 145.
Sophomore David Folden (Rugby, ND), 125, a transfer from Jamestown College, was a North Dakota State Class B champion and runnerup at Rugby High School.
Bailey had two runnerup finishes and a third place at Alaska State Championships while Bristlin was third and sixth for Frazee High at the Minnesota State Class A Tournament. Cahill was 108-45 lifetime at Rolla High School with third and seventh places at North Dakota State Class B Championships. Dschaak had two third place finishes and a second for Beulah High School while Gaughan posted a 107-50 career record at Moorhead High School.
Lunde was a five-time North Dakota State Class A placewinner, including a second place finish at 140 pounds this winter. Lunde was 159-40 during his career with the Packers. McFarland placed third for Grand Forks Central High School as a junior and was 68-37 overall. Rife was 98-55 for Menahga-Sebeka while Staus had two-second place finishes and a 76-34 career record at Grand Forks Central. Swenson was 152-52 for Pine River-Backus High School and placed fifth at the 2004 Minnesota State Class AA Tournament. Tubbs was 143-55 at Chokio-Alberta High School and placed third and fourth at the Minnesota State Class A Championships.
