
MINNEAPOLIS (8/21/03) -- Former Augsburg College wrestler Bryan Miller (full name: Robert Bryan Miller) was killed in a one-car accident in Golden Valley, Minn., on Aug. 14.
A native of Virginia Beach, Va., Miller wrestled at Augsburg for two seasons (2000-03), compiling a 35-15 record for the Auggies and 60-30 overall career record.
In 2001, Miller earned All-American honors with an eighth-place finish at 133 pounds at the NCAA Division III national championships in Waterloo, Iowa, finishing 24-10 overall. He also won the MIAC championship at 133 in 2001. As a team, Augsburg won both the MIAC title and NCAA national championship that season.
Prior to coming to Augsburg, Miller wrestled one season each at George Mason (1993-94) and Old Dominion (1996-97) universities, starting at 118 pounds his lone season at Old Dominion. He was a 1993 graduate of Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, Va., winning a Virginia state title in wrestling his senior year.
Memorial services were held August 21, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd., Virginia Beach, Va., 23462. The funeral service was August 22, 2003.
