The 25th nationally ranked SJU wrestling team opened the 2003-04 season at the Auggie Open on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Augsburg in Minneapolis. No team scores were kept
Individually, senior Matt Vos, Hopkins, ranked number one at 125-pounds, went 3-0 to win the 125-pound gold weight class. Vos won decisions by the scores of 8-2, 7-4 and 4-2 to claim the individual title.
Junior Nate LeVebvre, Elk River, went 2-2 and finished in fourth place in the 141-pound gold category. Sophomore Dan Fiecke, Winsted, finished in fifth place with a 3-1 record in the 197-pound category. Sophomore Charlie Sadder, Shoreview, took sixth place at the 141-pound gold weight level with a 2-2 overall record.
SJU will next compete at the Cobber Open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Moorhead.
