Pike named NCC Wrestler of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, SD--North Dakota State University senior Thad Pike of Hayfield, MN, is the North Central Conference Wrestler of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
No. 2-ranked Pike (174) finished fourth at the Las Vegas Invitational last weekend. He was 4-2 in the tournament and became North Dakota State‚s top finisher at Las Vegas since Steve Saxlund‚s runner-up finish at 184 pounds in 2000. Pike advanced into the semifinals with an upset win Friday night, pinning nationally ranked Pete Freidl of Illinois.
Pike helped 13th-place North Dakota State crack the top 20 and outscore all Division II teams for the fourth straight season.
North Dakota State travels to the St. Cloud State Invitational on Saturday, seeking its fourth straight team title at that tournament.
