FARGO, ND--North Dakota State won five bouts and got help from four U-Mary forfeits to roll to a 43-3 win over the Marauders on Wednesday before a crowd of 386 wrestling fans at the Bison Sports Arena.
NDSU (7-0) jumped out to an early 16-0 lead with an 11-2 major decision by heavyweight Joe Bryce and U-Mary forfeits at 125 and 133 pounds.
The Bison went up 22-0 when Zach Stevens won by 6-3 decision at 149 over Mike Champagne. Stevens recorded a takedown with 19 seconds left in the match and had a 1:41 time advantage for the win.
U-Mary's Andy Passmore did his best to upset defending Division II champion Paul Carlson at 157 pounds, but Carlson would not have it. He used an escape with 38 seconds left in the match to record a 4-3 win.
NDSU three-time All-American Brian Kraemer (197) pinned Jack Lindsley 2:06 into the first period to end the meet, which lasted a mere 55 minutes.
U-Mary (2-7) won its only bout at 184 pounds, where Elijah Simburger scored a 5-2 decision.
The Bison are scheduled to return to their home mat Friday night against Minnesota State-Moorhead at 7:30.
