BROOKINGS, SD--North Dakota State won all but the first bout Saturday in a 31-3 victory over South Dakota State in North Central Conference wrestling at Frost Arena.
South Dakota State (4-8, 1-3 NCC) got a win from Jeremy Roe at 149 pounds in the opener, but North Dakota State (11-0, 4-0 NCC) thundered back for 31 straight points on the Jackrabbits.
The Bison got one-point decisions from Paul Carlson (157) and Mike Fiedler (165) to go ahead 6-3 in the meet. Carlson needed a 1:46 time advantage for his 3-2 win over Joe Kenton, while Fiedler won 2-1 over Nate Althoff with a third-period escape.
From there, NDSU cruised to the victory. The next six Bison wrestlers won before Mathias Bitz ended the night with a 6-4 overtime win against the Jacks' Chad Herrboldt.
North Dakota State is off until traveling to the Air Force Academy for a dual meet next Saturday. The Bison will also wrestle at Northern Colorado that Sunday before returning home.
