NDSU Grounds Air Force Academy With 42-0 Shutout

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO--North Dakota State University recorded a pin, technical fall and four major decisions on its way to a 42-0 pounding of the U.S. Air Force Academy in college wrestling Saturday.

The Bison, ranked first in Division II, improved to 12-0 on the season heading into a Sunday dual meet at the University of Northern Colorado (2-8).

North Dakota State won nine bouts and picked up a forfeit victory at 125 pounds.

Sophomore Mathias Bitz was NDSU's winner by fall at 141 pounds. Bitz pinned Matt Crippes with 28 seconds left in the second period.

NDSU junior Nick Magee was a 17-1 winner by technical fall at 133 pounds. Magee scored his fourth two-point near fall of the match with 2 seconds remaining in the third period to seal the early win. The Bison picked up five team points thanks to a three-point Magee near fall in the first period.

The Bison got major decisions from sophomore Zach Stevens (17-3 at 149 pounds), senior Mike Fiedler (14-2 at 165), freshman Matt Hermann (15-6 at 184), and junior Joe Bryce (10-2 at heavyweight).

Air Force dropped to 2-5 on the season.
