Mankato, Minn. -- In a non-conference dual this evening, the #12 Minnesota State mat men took on Northern State in a non-conference dual.
MSU got their first win of the night in the 141-pound bout when freshman Jason Rhoten (Kasson, Minn.) took a 12-1 major decision over NSU's Brian Englund. MSU then received a forfeit in the 149-pound round bringing the team score to 10-9 in favor of the Mavericks.
Freshman Sam Donner (Lakeville, Minn.) took the 157-pound match with a 3-0 decision over NSU's Spencer Dockery. MSU then received another forfeit in the 165-pound match bringing the team score to 19-9 in favor of MSU.
For the 174-pounders, freshman Travis Krinkie (Blue Earth, Minn.) took his match with a 6-2 decision over Andy Sinclair.
Winning with a 19-9 major decision on the night was senior Jon Dierks (Mankato, Minn.) who took the match over Shawn Lewis for the 184-pounders.
Also winning in a major decision was junior Josh Janousek (Greenbush, Minn.) who beat Cory Wellnitz with a score of 14-1 in the 197-pound match.
