Mankato downs St. Cloud State with ease and speed

Mankato, Minn. -- In the last home dual of the season, the #12 ranked Minnesota State grapplers dominated St. Cloud State during a conference match that lasted merely one hour.
The evening started out with a double forfeit at 125 and MSU jumped off to a great start when 133-pound sophomore Bryce Bahe (Goodland, Kan.)
served SCSU's Derek Miller with a tech. fall. Bahe won the match 16-0 to bring the team score to 5-0 when Miller threw his head gear and received an unsportsmanlike conduct warning. The team score was then 5 to negative one in favor of MSU.
In the second match of the night, #7 ranked, 141-pound freshman Jason Rhoten (Kasson, Minn.) took on SCSU's Tom Messerli. Rhoten had four three-point near falls in a row after his initial takedown to bring him to 14-0 in the first period. After Messerli had two stalling warnings, Rhoten was awarded one point and won the match by tech fall, 15-0.
Freshman Sam Donner (Lakeville, Minn.) took the 157-pound match with a 6-2 decision over Blake Chirstopherson.
165-pound frosh George Lynaugh (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) took his match in a 9-2 decision over Dan Duch bringing MSU up 13-2 as a team.
For the 174-pounders, #7 ranked freshman Travis Krinkie (Blue Earth, Minn.) got the first pin of the night when Sean Beere fell at 2:49 in the first period, bringing MSU to 22-2.
Getting the second fall of the night and the second fall in a row was #7 ranked senior Jon Dierks (Mankato, Minn.) who pinned Mike Gritti at 4:24 to win his final home match of the year with authority and bring MSU to a dominating 28-2 lead.
Junior Josh Janousek (Greenbush, Minn.), 197, got a major decision on the night when he defeated Kyle Stern 17-7.
Junior Mike Engelmann (Spencer, Iowa) received a forfeit in the heavyweight match, bringing the final score to 38-2 in favor of MSU.
