Latest News:

The 20th nationally ranked SJU wrestling team was scheduled to travel to Concordia-Moorhead for a dual match on Saturday, Jan. 22, but the match was postponed because of the winter storm that came through the state last weekend.

In its last competition, SJU hosted the annual 10-team Terry Haws Dual Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 15, at Sexton Arena on the SJU campus. SJU went 1-3 during the tournament. Wis.-La Crosse and Concordia, Wis. each went 4-0 in their respective pools during the day.

SJU opened the tournament with a 24-21 loss to sixth nationally ranked Wis.-La Crosse. In the second round, SJU tied 19th nationally ranked MSU-Moorhead 18-18, but lost in the tiebreaker. In round four, SJU defeated Southwest Minnesota State 32-7. The Johnnies ended the day with a 21-18 loss to Itasca CC, who is ranked fifth in the NJCAA Division III rankings.

Individually, SJU junior Dan Fiecke (Winsted, Minn./Holy Trinity) went 4-0 during the day at 197 pounds and junior Dan Willaert (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato Loyola) went 3-1 at 184 pounds. Fiecke is currently ranked second in the nation at 197 pounds and Willaert is ranked seventh at 184 pounds in NCAA Division III.

SJU is currently 2-10 overall in dual matches. SJU will travel to the Al Hanke Invitational at 9 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 29, in Elmhurst, Ill.
