FARGO, N.D.--Fargo North High’s Heath Lynnes has signed a National Letter of Intent to wrestle and continue his education at North Dakota State University.

That announcement was made today by Bucky Maughan, National Wrestling Hall of Famer and head coach at North Dakota State.

Lynnes joins seven other recruits who have signed this year at North Dakota State. They are Levi Haugen (Minot, N.D.), Ryan Adams (Coon Rapids, Minn.), Zach Molitor (Cambridge, Minn.), David Albrecht (St. Paul, Minn.), Sean Connor (Idaho Falls, Idaho), Brandon Heie (Running Springs, Calif.), and Dominique Small (Federal Way, Wash.).

Maughan says that Lynnes, who was 45-0 with 30 pins for Fargo North last year, comes to NDSU with high praise from his high school coach, former NDSU All-American Ken Tinquist.

Lynnes won six tournaments last winter, including the Eastern Dakota Conference and state Class A championships. He was named the conference’s most outstanding senior athlete.

He was 27-11 and finished third in the state as a junior, and he was a state qualifier his sophomore year when he finished 15-19 overall.

North Dakota State finished the 2004-05 season 10-4 in its first year as an NCAA Division I independent team. The Bison won Division II national titles in 1988, 1998, 2000 and 2001, and will be eligible for the Division I championships beginning in 2006-07.
