Viking's Graumann named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American

Augustana wrestler Aaron Graumann was a three-time All-American on the mat. On Tuesday, he became a two-time Academic All-American as he was selected to the 2004-2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division Men's At-Large First Team.
Graumann moved up to the 15-member first team after being a third team selection in 2003-04. Graumann was the only North Central Conference representative named to the three teams.
The men's at-large teams consists of student-athletes from the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball water polo and wrestling.
Graumann, a Sioux Falls native, posted a 35-4 record at 125 pounds in 2004-05 and won the NCAA Division II national championship while leading the Vikings to a second-place team finish. He was a four-time national qualifier and a three-time All-American. He finished with a 109-41 career record.
In the classroom, Graumann maintained a 3.78 grade point average while majoring in chemistry and Spanish. He was a three-time Academic All-North Central Conference selection and was a 2003-04 CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Third Team honoree.
Graumann is also involved in numerous campus and community activities. The 2004 Viking Days Homecoming King, Graumann is active in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Spanish Club and the Student Affiliate American Chemical Society. In addition, he has volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House and Mark Twain Elementary School.
In May, Graumann was honored with two other presitigious awards. He was awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and also the North Central Conference's Stan Marshall Award, the top award given to a student-athlete.
