Engelmann named NCC Wrestler of the Week

Mankato, Minn.--Minnesota State senior Mike Engelmann (Spencer, Iowa) has become the first Maverick of the season to earn NCC Wrestler of the Week honors.Engelmann earned the honor after claiming the heavy-weight title at the Pointer Open at Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Engelmann went 4-0 Saturday including two pins and a major decision in his first three matches.Engelmann took the title after a 5-4 decision over the unattached Kyle Massey of Wisconsin.
Engelmann finished last season with a 23-12 mark,pinning his way through 16 matches.He ended the last two seasons qualifying for the NCAA Division II National Championships.
The Mavericks will travel to Nebraska-Omaha Saturday for an open tournament.
