Lowe Earns Big Ten Wrestler of the Week Honors

Golden Gopher senior All-American Bobbe Lowe has been named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week after earning his third tournament title in as many weeks. Lowe defeated a pair of top-10 ranked opponents en route to the 125-pound title at the Mat Town USA Invitational in Lock Haven, Pa., last Saturday.
Lowe improved to 13-0 on the season after defeating seventh-ranked Mark McKnight of Buffalo, 7-4, in the semifinals and then topping sixth-ranked Joe Dubuque of Indiana in the finals, 4-2. Lowe's finish helped Minnesota claim the team title with 154 points, just ahead of Penn State with 146.5.
This is the first league honor for Lowe in his two-plus seasons with the Golden Gophers. The Oak Grove, Mo., native transferred from Iowa Central Community College prior to the 2002-03 season.
Lowe and the Golden Gophers open their dual meet season on Sunday afternoon gainst No. 1 Oklahoma State at the Sports Pavilion. The match begins at 2 p.m.
