College Wrestling - Upper Iowa 40, St. Cloud State 8
The Upper Iowa wrestling team won eight of 10 matches in defeating St. Cloud State 40-8 Wednesday night.
John Gamble and Brady Hakeman won by fall for the Peacocks. Gamble defeated Brent Johnson at 133 pounds in 6:09, while Hakeman earned the victory over Loren Johnson at 174 pounds at the 1:31 mark.
Upper Iowa's Brandon Heying took an 11-1 major decision win at 157 pounds.
Tyson Brown started the meet with a 6-3 win at heavyweight, giving UIU a 3-0 lead. Phil Bruschuk earned a 9-4 decision at 184 pounds.
Bruce Bearman (125 pounds), Kyle Burkle (141 pounds) and Dan Goodson (197 pounds) picked up forfeit wins for the Peacocks.
Adam Minnette won by fall at the 2:08 mark at 149 pounds for St. Cloud State. The Huskies' Nate Schut won 10-4 at 165 pounds. A point was deducted from SCS for team misconduct.
Upper Iowa improves to 5-2 in dual meets this year while St. Cloud State falls to 0-3.
