February 4, 2005

The 12th-ranked Wisconsin wrestling team defeated unranked Ohio State, 20-18 Friday evening, giving the Badgers their first win in Big Ten dual competition this season. The Badgers now stand at 8-3-2 (1-3-1 Big Ten), while the Buckeyes drop to 7-8 (0-4 Big Ten).

With the match starting at 125 pounds, freshman Collin Cudd got the Badgers off on the right foot defeating OSU's Nathan Costello by an 8-3 decision victory. Cudd scored on three takedowns and two escapes in earning his second Big Ten dual win.

Up next was junior Tom Clum. At 133, Clum defeated T.J. Enright by an 8-3 margin. En route to his victory, Clum also scored on three takedowns to give the Badgers the early 6-0 lead.

After yielding at the 141 weight class, Wisconsin took the next three matches at 149, 157 and 165. Competing at 149 was true freshman Craig Henning. Henning earned his first ever Big Ten dual win by shutting out Steve Worley with a 6-0 decision victory. At 157, sophomore tri-captain Tyler Turner defeated Keegan Mueller 8-6. Turner recorded two takedowns and a reversal to take his 19th victory of the season.

In his first Big Ten action of the season, senior Chad Steldt made it count by taking a 13-5 major decision victory over OSU's Zach Craiglow. Steldt scored on three takedowns and three nearfall points to put Wisconsin up 16-3.

The Badgers would only win one more match as senior Brady Reinke remained undefeated with a 13-5 major decision victory over Alex Picazo. Reinke now has a 10-0 overall record and is 4-0 in Big Ten dual action.

The Badgers now travel to Bloomington, Ind., to take on the No. 17 Hoosiers Sunday at noon. Complete results and recaps will be available on uwbadgers.com.
