February 25, 2005
FARGO, N.D.--In his final collegiate match, North Dakota State senior Collin Kelly went out in style. The 157 pounder reversed South Dakota State's Andy Everson late in the first period and pinned Everson with just 10-seconds remaining in the period to help lead the Bison to a 34-6 dual win over the Jackrabbits on Friday night at the Bison Sports Arena.
A crowd of 908 was on hand to watch Kelly, Nick Magee, Lucas Christianson and Adam Dahlstrom close out their careers for NDSU.
NDSU (10-4) won their ninth consecutive matchup with Jason Liles' Jackrabbits (10-8). With the win, the Bison recorded their 25th double digit win season in school history.
The match opened with 174-pound junior Adam Dahlstrom scoring a 12-5 decision over SDSU's Travis Gottschalk. Dahlstrom, wrestling in his final match for the Herd, led 6-4 after two periods, then scored an escape, two takedowns and riding time advantage to out distance Gottschalk by seven. Dahlstrom ended his career with a 22-11 season record.
NDSU's Matt Hermann scored six takedowns in the first period and another four in the second period in a 23-8 technical foul over SDSU's Levi Krehmeyer at 184 pounds. Hermann led 15-5 after one period and closed out the match with a final takedown at the 4:22 mark in the second period. He improved his record to 21-8 overall, including an 11-3 dual mark this season.
At 197, Dustin Benz gave the Bison an 11-0 dual lead with a hard-fought victory over SDSU's Cody Nehl. There was no scoring after two periods, but Benz scored a reversal one-minute into the third period and added riding time advantage to defeat Nehl 3-1. Benz finished the season 21-10 overall.
Bison heavyweight Tim Kraemer notched his fifth straight victory with an 11-5 decision over Scott Revier. Kraemer built an 8-3 lead after one, scoring four takedowns in the period. He added another takedown in the third period and riding time in the victory. Kraemer left the squared circle with his team-leading 31st win of the season (31-7 overall, 12-1 in duals).
Freshman Mike Meger used a flurry of takedowns in a 24-9 technical fall (6:52) over Marcus Waters at 125 pounds. Meger had nine takedowns in the match and scored nearfall points on three separate occasions, including a 3-point nearfall with eight-seconds left in the match to end it. Meger finished 10-9 this season.
Senior Nick Magee fell behind early in his 133 pound matchup with SDSU's Chris Werth. Werth scored a takedown just 14-seconds in and added a 2-point nearfall to build a 4-0 lead, but Magee answered with five points to end the period on an escape, takedown and a 2-point nearfall. Magee led 6-4 after two periods. Werth chose down to start the third and Magee turned the Jackrabbit sophomore for a 2-point nearfall that proved to be the difference after Werth scored a reversal late in the match.
Magee ended his Bison career with a 15-6 record in 2004-05 including a 10-3 mark in duals. Magee went 58-27 in his NDSU career.
Leading 22-0 in the dual, NDSU suffered its first setback in the match when SDSU's Dusty Kavitz came from behind to defeat Bison senior Lucas Christianson at 141. Christianson led 6-2 after one period only to see Kavitz notch the score at seven entering the third period. Kavitz rode out Christianson for the duration of the third period to win on a riding time point (1:29) in an 8-7 final.
Christianson finished 69-53 with two Division II All-America finishes in his Bison career.

The senior from Oakes, N.D. leaves NDSU with a 55-38 career record.
