Saint John’s Wrestlers take second place at Simpson Invitational

Simpson, Iowa, - The Saint John’s University wrestling team, coached by Brandon Novak (2nd season), finished in second place at the Simpson Invitation on Saturday, Dec. 3., with a team score of 95.5 points.  Junior Jacob Malone (New York Mills, Minn.) brought home championship honors wrestling at 157 and four other Johnnies took home 3rd-place honors. Malone tallied a 4-0 record on the day.

The four Johnnies who notched third-place finishes were: Nate Schraan at 125 (3-1), Charlie Sadder at 141 (6-1), Dan Willaert at 184 (4-1), and Dan Fieke at 197 (5-1). Jason Findley finished in fourth place with an overall record of 3-2 on the day. Findley wrestled at 285.

The Johnnies will head to St. Cloud State on Saturday, Dec. 10 for the SCSU Invitational. The Invite is set to begin at 9 a.m. in the Halenbeck Hall Field House.
