Minnesota State University, Mankato update

The 2nd ranked Mavericks are currently on a five-match win streak. MSU is now 10-1 on the season and have now won 26 out of their last 30 matches the past two seasons, with three of those losses coming to #1 ranked University of Nebraska-Omaha. The Mavericks will take on 12th ranked Minnesota State University-Moorhead at 7:00 pm on Friday, February 3rd at the Glen Taylor Center on the campus of Minnesota State University.
The Mavericks defeated 5th ranked Augustana College last Friday night 25-17. The highlights of the dual were two falls by 2nd ranked Travis Krinkie and 2nd ranked John Koons at 174 and 184 pounds.
Travis Krinkie was named Co-Wrestler of the Week in the North Central Conference. Krinkie is now 13-2 on the season. Krinkie is a two-time All-American from Blue Earth, Minnesota.
The Mavericks and the Dragons will lock horns for the twenty-seventh time on Friday night. The Mavericks lead the series 21-5-1. Ranked wrestlers competing in the dual are:

Koons on a roll: Senior 184 pounder, John Koons has now won nine straight matches. During his current streak, he has outscored his opponents 130-11 including a fall over 4th ranked Nate Buys-Augustana College.
Head Wrestling Coach Jim Makovsky enters his 13th season at the helm of the Minnesota State wrestling team. As the head coach of the Mavericks, Makovsky has a record of 151-61-2. He recorded his 150th win with over West Liberty State on January 11th in Shippensburg, PA. His overall record in seventeen seasons as a head coach stands 177-80-4. Makovsky has coached forty-seven All-Americans and seven National Champions and has now had seventeen straight winning seasons. Makovsky is assisted by Brandon Reichel (4th season), Mike Engelmann (1st season) and Mike Neiczyck (1st season).
