Minnesota State University, Mankato update

The 2nd-ranked Mavericks are currently on a six-match win streak. Minnesota State University is now 11-1 on the season and have now won 27 out of their last 31 matches the past two seasons, with three of those losses coming to #1 ranked University of Nebraska-Omaha. The Mavericks will travel to Omaha, Nebraska to take on #1 Nebraska-Omaha at Sapp Fieldhouse on Friday night. The Mavericks will then travel to Marshall, Minnesota to tangle with the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday night. Both matches will start at 7:00 pm.
The Mavericks defeated 12th ranked Minnesota State University-Moorhead 29-6 last Friday night at the Glen Taylor Center. The highlight of the dual was Heavyweight Tim Kraemer’s 6-1 victory over 4th ranked Chris Tuchsherer. The Mavericks dominated the neutral position outscoring the Dragons 56-8.

Head Wrestling Coach Jim Makovsky is in his 13th season at the helm of the Minnesota State wrestling team. As the head coach of the Mavericks, Makovsky has a record of 152-61-2. He recorded his 150th win with over West Liberty State on January 11th in Shippensburg, PA. His overall record in seventeen seasons as a head coach stands 178-80-4. Makovsky has coached forty-seven All-Americans and seven National Champions and has now had seventeen straight winning seasons. Makovsky is assisted by Brandon Reichel (4th season), Mike Engelmann (1st season) and Mike Neiczyck (1st season).
