BROOKINGS, SD -- Two prep standouts and one junior college transfer have signed national letters of intent, indicating they will enroll at South Dakota State University and compete for the Jackrabbit wrestling program next winter.

Signing during the Spring signing period, were:

Everson compiled a 123-15 career record at Mitchell High School, including two consecutive seasons of 38 victories. He earned third-place honors this past season after winning the state tournament his junior year. Everson, a three-time Brute-Adidas All-American, is also a three-time regional champion and three-time Eastern South Dakota Conference champion. He is the younger brother of Jackrabbit wrestler Andy Everson.

Flynn, a two-time state place-winner, was named all-KC-Metro honorable mention following his senior season at Lansing High School. Flynn, the 2006 Kansas 5A runner-up at 140 pounds, is a three-time league champion and a member of Team Kansas. After recording a 133-24 career record at Lansing, including a 40-2 record his senior year, Flynn was selected to wrestle in the Kansas City All-Star Metro Classic and the Kansas Senior All-Star Dual. A national qualifier and state champion in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling Flynn recently finished first in Freestyle and third in Greco at the Southern Plains Regional.

He earned national runner-up honors at 184 pounds this past season, after winning the national championship his freshman year. Named the 2005 Minnesota Community College Wrestler of the Year, he will have two years of eligibility remaining. In high school, he was a three-time state place-winner, earning runner-up honors his junior year at Elk Point-Jefferson High School in Elk Point, S.D.

Also joining the Jackrabbit program next winter is Jeff Cooley. Cooley, a transfer from Southwest Minnesota State, was enrolled in classes at SDSU during the 2005-06 academic year but did not wrestle. A two-time Minnesota state champion from Westbrook, Minn., he will wrestle at 133 pounds for the Jackrabbits.

South Dakota State, which finished the year with a 7-11 dual record, will begin competition in the Western Wrestling Conference next winter.
