St. Cloud, MN -- St.
Cloud State University wrestling coach Steve Costanzo has announced
the signing of Gabriel Suarez to a national and North Central
Conference letters of intent to attend St. Cloud State in the fall of
2006. Suarez is a resident of Las Vegas, Nev. and the son of David
Suarez and Rita Palmer.
A 2006 Nevada High School state champion from Cimarron-Memorial High
School at 125-pounds, Suarez placed four-times as a high school athlete
at the Nevada state meet. In addition to his state title, Suarez gained
two second place finishes and one fifth place finish at the state meet.
In high school, Suarez posted a 165-28 record and he is expected to
wrestle at 125- or 133-pounds at the collegiate level.
"Gabriel is a talented wrestler, who wins most of his matches by
outhustling his opponents," Costanzo said. "I am very excited about
working with him and I feel that he will have the ability to make an
immediate impact in the Husky wrestling program."
Suarez intends to major in business at St. Cloud State.
