Bison add two more

June 14, 2006

FARGO, N.D.- North Dakota State University head wrestling coach Bucky Maughan announced today that high school seniors Geoff Martin and Nick Walton are planning to continue their education and wrestle for NDSU as recruited walk-ons in 2006.

With these two additions, the Bison now have 13 total commitments for next year's squad.

Martin graduated from Fargo (N.D.) South High School and placed fifth at 135 pounds at the 2006 North Dakota State High School Tournament. He also received all-american honors after a fifth-place finish at the AAU Folkstyle Nationals. Martin also put together a pair of third-place showings at the North Dakota Freestyle and Greco-Roman state tournaments.

Walton is a graduate of Fargo (N.D.) North High School that placed sixth at the state Greco-Roman tournament and eighth at the Folkstyle tournament during the 2005-06 season. Walton was also a three-time all-state academic selection and a two-time North Dakota high school state tournament participant.

The Bison wrestling program completed its third year of reclassification to Division I with a 6-6 record. NDSU will compete in the newly formed Western Wrestling Conference and be eligible for the NCAA tournament beginning next season.
