Mankato, MN -- Minnesota
State University Mankato Head Coach Jim Makovsky has added Ty
Eustice and Math Bitz as assistant coaches for the 2006-07 season. “I
am extremely excited to add Ty and Math to our staff. They will
definitely have a very positive impact on our program.”
Eustice was the 149 pound 2006 NCAA I runner-up and posted a 28-3
record and a 16-1 dual meet record. The two-time All-American ended his
Hawkeye career with a 111-29 collegiate record and a 55-11 dual meet
record. “Ty will bring in ideas from the outside and work primarily
with individual training. He knows several of our wrestlers already and
is excited to get to work.”
Bitz was an NCAA II All-American in 2005 while wrestling for MSU and
served as a captain for the Mavericks. In addition, he was named “MSU
Student-Athlete of the Year” for competitive and academic excellence.
“Math is an extremely bright, detailed person and has incredible people
skills to go along with his technical knowledge,” according to
Makovsky. “He was a tremendous leader while he was competing at MSU and
I feel he is going to be a great coach.”
This past season the Mavericks were 14-2 in dual meets, placed 2nd in
the National Duals and placed 5th in the NCAA II National
Championships. Next season the Mavericks return five All-Americans
(Nick Smith-125, Jeff Pfaffinger-133, Jason Rhoten-149, Andy Pickar-165
and Travis Krinkie-174) and three national qualifiers (Efrain
Ayala-141, Brandon Girtz-157 and Ben Janike-197).
