March 11, 2006
Nate Baker captured the 165-pound individual title on Saturday night at the 2006 NCAA Division II National Wrestling Championships at Findlay, OH. Baker, spurred into the finals by three straight pins, defeated Mercyhurst's Zach Schafer in the championship bout.
Chris Tuchscherer, 285, defeated Chris Finn of Central Oklahoma for fifth place.
Baker became the first Dragon national champion since Nate Hendrickson in 1997. Both Baker and Tuchscherer earned NCAA All-American honors.
