Moorhead, MN -- Concordia
College Head Wrestling Coach Clay Nagel has announced that Josiah
Simburger of Mandan, ND will be attending Concordia College this fall.
"I am very excited about Josiah joining the Cobber wrestling family,"
said Nagel. "He is a very accomplished student-athlete with a
tremendous work ethic. He has all the tools to become and outstanding
collegiate wrestler at Concordia." He is projected to wrestle at 141
pounds for the Cobbers.
Simburger was a 13-time freestyle and Greco-Roman state champion, a
six-time Northern Plains Regional placer. He placed 7th at the 2005
Brute Adidas Nationals, and 4th at 2006 Rocky Mountain Nationals. He
was also selected team captain for the Mandan Braves in 2005 and 2006.
Simburger has placed four times in the state A wrestling tournament --
5th in 2003, 5th in 2004, State Champion in 2005, and second in 2006.
He has 147 career wins to his credit.
Josiah is a High School honor student and was nominated the most
outstanding science student his senior year.
He was coached by JJ Nelson at Mandan ND. Shelly Simburger is his
mother.
