Golden Gophers add Kaleb Young to list of recruits
November 15, 2006
The University of Minnesota
wrestling program added another wrestler to their list of recruits
today. Kaleb Young has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join
the Golden Gophers in 2007-08.
A native of Tentstrike, Minn., Young has earned all-state accolades
twice during his career at Bemidji High School, including a third-place
finish at 171 pounds as a junior last year. Young is a Junior National
All-American and a former Cadet National Champion. He is projected to
wrestle at 174 pounds for the Gophers.
“We believe Kaleb is one of the top recruits in Minnesota,”
assistant coach Marty Morgan said. “He’s a little unproven.
He hasn’t won a state title yet but has placed a couple of times,
and sometimes those are your best guys because they’re still
willing to improve and try to produce when they get to the college
level.”
