SJU TRAVELS TO AUGSBURG FOR DUAL
Saint John’s will travel to Minneapolis on Wednesday, Nov. 22 for a dual against Augsburg at 5 p.m.

SJU COMPETES IN FIRST DUAL MEET, AUGGIE OPEN
MANKATO, Minn. – Saint John’s competed in the first nonconference dual meet of the season against Minnesota State- Mankato Mavericks on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006. Minnesota State-Mankato is ranked number three in division II athletics and proved to be a worthy opponent for Saint John’s. Johnnie freshman Mogi Baatar (125; Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/St. Benedict's) won by decision, 5-4, against Mankato’s Nick Smith. Smith is ranked number 2 in Division II.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – On Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, Saint John’s competed in the Auggie-Brute-Adidas Open wrestling tournament. Freshman Mogi Baatar (125; Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/St. Benedict's) went 4-1, senior Jacob Malone (157; New York Mills, Minn./New York Mills) went 3-1 and freshman Matt Laine (125; Hastings, Minn./Hastings) ended the day with a 2-1 record.

BAATAR SHINES AGAIN
Freshman Mogi Baatar (125; Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/St. Benedict's) displayed another pair of impressive performances last week. On Wednesday, Nov. 15, Baatar defeated Minnesota State-Mankato’s Nick Smith, who is ranked second nationally in Division II, in a tight match, 5-4. On Saturday, Nov. 18, Baatar went 4-1 in the Auggie-Brute-Adidas Open. Baatar is 8-3 so far in this, his freshman season at SJU.

SJU HEAD COACH BRANDON NOVAK
Head Coach Brandon Novak is in his third season as the head wrestling coach in Collegeville. A 2001 graduate of SJU, Novak won the NCAA Division III Championship at 197 pounds in 2001 and was a three-time All- American. As a football player at SJU, Novak was named MIAC Most Valuable Player as a linebacker in 1999 and a first-team All-America selection. Last year, Novak led the Johnnie grapplers to a 16th place finish at the NCAA Championships. In 2005-06, Novak's SJU wrestling team had the fifth-highest team grade point average in NCAA Division III at 3.334.
