FARGO, ND -- North Dakota State
wrestling head coach Bucky Maughan has announced that Tyler Steinwand
of Mandan (N.D.) High School has signed a National Letter of Intent to
wrestle and continue his education for NDSU. Maughan also announced
that Taylor Nagel of Corvallis (Mont.) High School has informed the
Bison wrestling coaches that he has been accepted to North Dakota State
and plans to wrestle for them starting in Fall 2007.
These two wrestlers join Tyler Hemmesch of Elk River (Minn.) High
School, Kirk Anderson of Barnesville (Minn.) High School and Shannon
Fettig of Napoleon (N.D.) as incoming freshmen to the wrestling team.
Hemmesch, Anderson and Fettig signed National Letters of Intent earlier
this month.
North Dakota State is a member of the Western Wrestling Conference and
finished with an 8-5-1 record overall. The Bison became eligible for
NCAA Championships in the 2006-07 season, qualifying three wrestlers in
their first year.

2005-07 and placed third as a freshman in 2004...Four-time North Dakota

including a perfect 42-0 senior season at 135 pounds...Son of Terry and

Taylor Nagel - Victor, Mont. (Corvallis H.S.)
Four-time placewinner at the Montana Class A State Championships that
won the title at 145 pounds as a senior...Placed third in 2006, sixth
in 2005 and fourth in 2004...Won the state Freestyle championship and
was runner up in Greco-Roman in 2006...Finished his high school career
with a 136-39 record...Son of Jeff and Lisa Nagel...Father coached
Taylor in high school...Clay Nagel, Taylor’s uncle, coaches for
Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn...His cousin, Travis Nagel, was an
All-American for Minnesota State-Moorhead and other cousin, Matt Nagel,
was an All-American and three-time NCAA qualifier at the University of
Minnesota...Intends on majoring in pharmacy.
